"From time to time I plan to start some threads discussing certain products which I truly believe in and want to help educate folks that might not be aware of said products. I figured there's no better way to start this than with the pencils made by Guppy Lures. I have known these plugs and the builder for quite a while now and can simply say that it is a remarkably good pencil popper. Making a functional pencil popper is fairly easy - making a consistent pencil that achieves maximum distance, corrects a bad cast and slashes the water to a froth is not such a simple task. Guppy pencils do just that though - every one of them every time. You'll never see me anywhere during the day without a Guppy Pencil in my bag. Guppy makes a few different sizes although my personal favorite is the 2 3/4oz Jobo jr (the mini pencil being my second favorite). I have caught fish on Guppy Pencils from the rocky coast of main to the vast beaches of the Carolina coast and many many places in between. If you are new to the sport and want to learn to fish pencil poppers I can't think of a better place to start. If your a seasoned veteran but have never tried a Guppy - I seriously doubt you'll regret the decision.
